Ethics Statement

Although my channel isn't the biggest on YouTube, I cherish the connections I've made with people worldwide over the course of the last 16 years and hundreds of videos.

On my channel, sponsored content appears relatively infrequently. I will only partner with brands if they deliver exceptional customer service and support because I use their products or services myself. More significantly, I will always disclose sponsored content and videos. A video is not sponsored if I distinctly specify that it is. It's as easy as that!

Generally speaking, I prefer not to be compensated for my work or accept free merchandise in exchange for a video. You can be absolutely sure that if I do collaborate with a company, they have viewed this page and that I have established a long-lasting, mutually respectful relationship with them.

Beyond that, it's critical to consider the motivation behind a sponsorship. A sponsor should encourage and facilitate my actions rather than limit or regulate them. It should be a win-win-win scenario for me, the brand, and the audience. My channel is not, and never has been, a marketing department extension for any brand.

I own most of the tools and things I use and review, though occasionally, I will rent or borrow tools. Companies will occasionally send me free products, and I will always make it evident in the video and description that I received the item for free. I typically accept these offers out of sheer necessity; I don't have endless resources, budget, or time, and occasionally, I get asked for my opinions on pre-production or market viability.

Giving away free goods never ensures a favorable review or even a review or video at all. Like sponsorships, I'm very picky about what I accept for free and will only take something if we've spoken with the brand about this ethics statement.

For the sake of clarity, there are a few more non-negotiable items that I would like to mention. To ensure that everyone is on the same page, I have made all of this information publicly available to brands and viewers alike:

All of my work is original to me. Every video I write and produce furthers my purpose and my current assessment of what my audience will find helpful or relevant.

My thoughts are always my own, and I try to be as objective as possible while writing reviews.

I never send video previews to anyone for evaluation or editing. Not an exemption.

My calendar is entirely under my control. Regarding scheduling, I'm eager to collaborate with others, but no outside entity may compensate me or exert any other influence in exchange for scheduling precedence.

Regarding scheduling, I don't take part in releases under embargo.

I'm not required to write a review or include a product in a video just because I received it for free. I never produce films in return for free goods or services.

My only direct clients are respectable brands.

While I appreciate it when businesses provide information about their goods and services, I will only put the information that I deem essential and pertinent in any videos.

To make my videos as accurate and beneficial as possible, I will try to verify anything I don't fully grasp about a product or service.

Although providing specific links in social media postings or video descriptions makes sense, I am the final decision maker regarding what content I post on my accounts on all platforms.

Anytime a posted video that includes a free product or service, YouTube will click the "includes paid promotion" box, even if it isn't an official sponsorship.

As long as the post includes a direct link to the original video that I uploaded to my YouTube channel, I would be more than delighted for anyone to share my videos. Parties shall not post my videos on additional sites without explicit permission.

If approached about a sponsored campaign including other creators, I urge that gender, race, and orientation diversity are adequately represented.

I make no promises regarding the number of views or audience participation in any video. Even though I want everything I make to "perform," I cannot guarantee any particular number of views because there are too many uncontrollable factors. However, I watch every video before posting it; I can promise at least one watch.

As an aside, I do think it's funny when companies request that a film "go viral." Why wouldn't I make every video go viral if I knew how to accomplish that?

I appreciate you taking the time to read and comprehend my statement on ethics. While it's unlikely to cover every possible situation, this should give you a good idea of how much I respect the honesty of my work and the relationships I build with people who take the time to look at something I've done.

Ultimately, all I want is to continue enjoying myself while creating movies, and without these rules, that enjoyment ends. Please feel free to adapt this ethical statement to your needs if you are a creator. Stealing my ethical statement is morally acceptable!
